On the weekend of Friday April 17 thru 19th, 1998 Troop 370 had its monthly campout. This month we were at Carver Park Reserve which is not far from home. The scouts worked on some of their advancements and merit badges and had a lot of fun. We also played host to a group of about a dozen Weblos scouts that were invited out to see some of the Boy Scout activities. Here are some of the photos.
Here we gather at the local parking lot and find appropriate rides for everyone. The weather was somewhat on the cool side (highs in the 50's, lows overnight in the 30's) and there was scattered rain, but it did not spoil the fun.
Here is the area with the tents set up, and the cooking area and campfire.
Some of us really roughed it out. We brought campers here in case the weather got a little to cold for the new scouts.
On Saturday we played host to some Weblos scouts and had several stations set up for them to experience. One, the Cargo net climb proved to be a nice attraction. Here one of the older scouts checks out the net shortly after it was set up (before the Weblos arrival). His fellow scouts seem to be looking on waiting to see if it will hold!
They also had an area set up showing how to set a proper campfire up. This always proves very popular with the boys.
Of course the lunch always proves pretty popular also!
After lunch the scouts worked on various advancements and had conferences with the Scoutmaster.
We had a beautiful sunset on Saturday night.
On Sunday we had a quick meeting to see how it went for everyone, and packed up and policed the area for any trash we may have dropped before heading out.
