Boy Scout Camp out - Norseland, MN

On the weekend of Saturday March 7 thru 8th, 1998 Josh and myself attended his first Boy Scout camp out. He has recently joined a local Boy Scout troop after graduating from the Webelos program.
His first camp out was at Norseland Boy Scout camp in South Central Minnesota. The weather was cool and there was still a lot of snow on the ground but lots of fun were had by the boys. They learned about making fires in the winter (as if they needed any help making a fire!), physical fitness, earned their totin' chips (they can now carry a knife to Scout events when needed), and lots of other little things.

We stayed in a quonset hut with bunk beds (x-military style it appeared), with heat, stove, refrigerator, fire place, etc. Boy was it tough. Some of the older scouts and leaders did sleep outdoors in tents, or in a storm shelter (large concrete tube). It was cool overnight (20's) with a pretty high wind that made it seem a lot colder!
Here are some pictures:

This is the inside of the hut that we slept in. We were really roughing it!
Here are some of the boys setting up the tents (for practice, and a couple people slept out in them.

Here the boys are gathered around the fire that they are getting starting.
