July 6, 1999 - Summer Vacation

Today most mostly a travel day. We drove from our camp location near Crater Lake National Park in Oregon to a campsite near Pocatello Idaho. We rented a campsite tonight at America Falls. It was located and owned by the local indian reservation. It had some unique amenities including some outdoor hot tubs fed by fresh springs right out of the hillside. Once at the campsite we enjoyed a nice dinner, then took a nighttime walk and laid out to watch the stars and talk.

Here are a few of the photo's taken. They show the most remarkable of the finds we discovered in the area. If you are like me you would have visualized Oregon as mostly a tree covered forest having not seen it before. Having now been there I can tell you that most of the state (east of the mountains) is actually a form of desert.
