July 4, 1999 - Summer Vacation

We started out today driving from the Washington Coast beach up further along the shore near Olympia National Forest, then back and inland to Mt. Rainier National Park. We drove along the northern border of the park and then entered the eastern sections and up to the visitors center.

Here we are driving along the highway through the forest on the way to Rainier National Park.

Here is our first view of the mountain.

Here is a lovely little waterfall we stopped at on the way in to the visitors center.

Here is a photo of us at one of the rest stops on our way up the mountain.

We drove up the mountain into the snow belt again. It was amazing to believe that these roads were just recently cleared for the season.

There was so much snow here, but yet the weather so nice there were children and adults out sledding on the side of the mountain. Here is a link to a VR Panorama taken up on the mountain. And her a second VR Panorama.

On the way down we stopped on the side of the road and restocked our cooler. Then ended up finding a road into a new growth area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
