June 30, 1999 - Summer Vacation

Today we drove from the east central part of Montana up to the northern area then across to near the northwest corner. Our target for today was the Glacier National Park area. We reached that area in the drizzly part of the late afternoon. We circled the southern part of the park and found an abandoned road into the woods and set up camp. Although it was a wet, cool, drizzly day it was a very beautiful area.

Here is the dam at Fort Peck Lake. This area was very important in the Lewis and Clark explorations. They ended up camping near this location over one of the winters.

In between there and our final destination for the day the land kept changing from nearly flat nearly featureless land, to near desert, to dry gulches, to mountains.

Here is the campsite we found for the night and the view we had from the campsite.
