GEORGE COULSON was born October 12, 1776, at West Nottingham, Cecil County, Maryland, and died March 28, 1838, probably in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, at the age of sixty-one. He married first in 1801 to SARAH GREGG. They moved from Cecil County, Maryland, to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on April 12, 1814. Sarah died in 1832. There were no children born of this marriage. He married second to DUCETTA MORGAN. George Coulson operated a tanyard.

LETITIA COULSON was born February 17, 1778, at West Nottingham, Cecil County, Maryland, and died March 20, 1832, at the age of fifty-four. She married on November 17, 1808, to JACOB JOB (son of DANIEL JOB and MARY UNKNOWN) who was born October 18, 1775, and died July 7, 1834, at the age of fifty-eight. They were members of Little Britain Monthly Meeting, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
The record of this family was obtained by Henry J. Coulson from the family Bible of Jacob Job which in 1898 was in the possession of Everett E. Massey of Elkview, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

MARGARET COULSON was born September 1, 1781, at West Nottingham, Cecil County, Maryland. She married URIAH BLACKBURN of Baltimore, Maryland.

ELI COULSON was born April 4, 1786, at West Nottingham, Cecil County, Maryland, died there on March 26, 1853, shortly before his sixty-seventh birthday, and is buried there at the Friends Burying Ground. He married on December 31, 1812, to JANE EAGAN who died April 25, 1875.
Henry J. Coulson reported that "Eli Coulson's descendants of Cecil County, Maryland, have an OLD parchment deed of land transfers in Derbyshire, England, dating sometime in 1690."
In 1808 Eli Coulson made application for membership in the Quakers and his request was granted. However, after his marriage to Jane Eagan, the following is noted in the minutes:
At Nottingham M.M. held 11, of 6 Mo. 1813. West Nottingham Preparative meeting reports that Eli Coulson has accomplished his marriage, with a woman not in membership with us, by the assistance of a hireling minister. Robt. Brown & Wm Preston are appointed to treat with him on account of his deviation......8 of 10 Mo. 1813...Eli Coulson having had a right of membership among friends, but for want of living in the fear of the Lord, and keeping a strict watch over the temptations of the enemy, hath been guilty of being married to a woman by the assistance of an hirling minister, in order to convince them of the evil of his conduct, friends have treated with him, but he not appearing so sensible of his transgression as suitably to condemn it, We disown him from membership with us, untill through true repentance he can condemn the same to the satisfaction of this meeting.

LAVINIA COULSON was born August 13, 1792, at West Nottingham, Cecil County, Maryland, and died October 8, 1828, at the age of thirty-six. She married on March 2, 1819, to NATHAN SIDWELL (son of JOB SIDWELL and REBECCA WILSON) who was born June 8, 1797 in East Nottingham, Chester County, Pennsylvania, and died July 2, 1825, at the age of twenty-eight. The minutes of Nottingham Monthly Meeting recite that Lavinia "accomplished her marriage out of the order of friends."
LAVINIA COULSON and NATHAN SIDWELL were the parents of the following children:

ENOCH COULSON married BETSEY BROWN in Pennsylvania. They are reported to have had several children but only one survived:

ELIJAH COULSON was born in 1777 and died in 1853, at the approximate age of seventy-six. He married MARY PIERCE who was born March 18, 1815, and died in January of 1883 at the home of her son ELIJAH COULSON in Tennessee. She was sixty-five years old at the time of her death.
