The Zahniser people carried 10 of 11 districts, even defeating Rheam in his own district by a vote of 125 to 81. In Oestermaier's district, Zahniser had almost 200 of a majority. The one district Rheam carried was won by one vote. The vote follows: Zahniser - 121, 125, 219, 75, 83, 167, 143, 121, 76, 66, 52- 1,248. Rheam-66, 81, 58, 51, 84, 81, 83, 46, 26, 6, 17-599.

THOMAS CLINTON COULSON was born July 3, 1833, and died July 23, 1873, at the age of forty. He is buried at the Salina Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. He married on February 26, 1857, to HANNAH ARMSTRONG who was born February 28, 1835, near Lisbon, Ohio, and died in September of 1890, at the age of fifty-four. She is buried in the Gypsum City Cemetery, near Salina, Kansas.

Mrs. Dora Roberts [India Isadora Coulson], 331 N. Lawrence Avenue, Wichita, Kansas, writes:My father, Thomas C. Coulson, married to Hannah Armstrong, near Lisbon, Ohio, in the spring of 1857. Two children were born to them while they lived in Ohio: Narsisa born December 25, 1857, died when 2 years 10 months of age, Emmor, born March 12, 1860. They moved to Indiana where three more were born. Oscar born January 25, 1862. Charles born February 13, 1864, died October 24, 1892, aged 28 years. Isadora born March 6, 1866.
My parents moved to Pottawottamie County, Kansas, in the fall of 1866 and from there to Salina County, Kansas, the next spring and arrived there on the 30th day of May 1867 on a claim 20 miles S.E. of Salina on the Gypsum Valley. The farm consisted of 160 acres, 80 of which was a homestead. This was our home for over 20 years. My father died the 23rd of July 1873 and was buried in the Salina Cemetery. My mother died the 28th of September 1890 and is buried in the Gypsum City Cemetery, about two miles from the old homestead.

CHARLES MAXWELL COULSON married ELLEN SMITH of Boulder, Colorado. He served during the Civil War in the 11th Kansas. He moved to Colorado in 1863 and died about 1879.
