(G2)Benjamin David SCHUYLER |
I believe that (G2)Benjamin David, son of (F4)David Isaac and Maria (Woliver) SCHUYLER, was born at Sullivan Town, Madison Co., N.Y. His mother died when he was very young, and he was raised at Herkimer, Herkimer Co., N.Y., by his Aunt Margaret. As an adult, he relocated to Henrietta (suburb of Rochester), Monroe Co., N.Y. He married Anna STERNBERGH, on 13 August 1830, and settled there. In 1834, he and his family moved to Clay, Onondaga Co., N.Y. He went into the lumbering business. In 1839, he returned to Henrietta, and remained there. He established a seed growing farm there. One of his sons, (and my g-grandfather) (H5)Albertsen Claude SCHUYLER, was born at Henrietta. As an adult, he moved to Brighton, (suburb of Rochester), Monroe Co., N.Y. He married Sophia Donkersley HARTLEY, on 23 Dec. 1868, at Rochester, N.Y. Their homestead existed on the southeast corner of Elmwood Ave. and S.Clinton Ave. The old homestead has since been torn down, and an office complex now exists on the property. |
