TYRONE ON THE FRONT LINE
I met a man one day in the world called Cyber Space,
A humble man he was, though I couldn't see his face,
His name was Tyrone Dancy and the light he showed within,
Cast the SHADOW OF A HERO as I typed words to him.
He never told me where he'd been or the reasons he was there,
But, his demeanor as he spoke revealed a gift that seemed so rare,
I could feel that he'd seen evil beyond the scope of sin,
And a SHADOW OF A HERO fell all around me then.
When I found out he was a highly decorated vet,
I couldn't stop the tears, I owed him such a debt,
He fought for me and bled for me, how could I then repay,
The honor of standing in the SHADOW OF A HERO on that day.
I know the awards and honors he got for being over there,
But, I don't know the nightmares that my hero has to bear,
When he lies down to sleep at night,
let my spirit take his pain,
As the SHADOW OF A HERO shrouds his mind where he has lain.
But, then a peace comes over me when my mind recalls,
I loved him and I thanked him as I stood at The Wall,
And, now, I ask you, God, when he draws his last breath,
Clothe him in that SHADOW OF A HERO as you close his eyes in death.
