What happened to her and Future projects
|
We are trying to find out what happened to Sarah Rebecca Brawner. She was the D/O of Jeremiah and Sarah Shrum Brawner. She was born around May 1843. She left Macon County, Tn. before the Civil War to Missouri with her husband, John Willis. Family tradition says that her husband died in that war and she came back with a child on her hip. Sarah Rebecca was living in her parent's household (Jeremiah and Sarah Brawner) in 1850. In the 1860 Macon County, Tn. census she was married and living with her husband, John Willis. In 1869, there was a lawsuit noted in Macon County, Tn. that involved her oldest daughter and her (listed as a Highlett). This lawsuit was over the land of Martha's grandfather, Andrew Willis and listed her daughter, Martha Jane Willis, as the only child of John Willis. The 1870 census, it is unknown where she is. She was noted in the Macon County, Tn census in 1880, 1900 as Sarah Rebecca Shrum and in the 1910 census as Sarah E. Shrum. The 1900 and 1910 censuses listed her as a widow with having 7 children. Family tradition also says that she was married a total of 3 times. Once to John Willis, a Hightower (or Highlett) and then to a Shrum. Does anyone know what happened to her?
The next project will be a yearly update on the book. Also we will be starting a project and writing a new book that will be linking the Kentucky Brawner Families.
If we can help anyone in their research on the Brawners (including the states of Virginia and Maryland and beyond) please let us know.
