What did you do during last vacation.....?

We Sri lankans rarely need to take leave for rest and recuperation...We have holidays in Sri Lanka, and plenty of it for everybody.We also have plenty of Temples, Kovils, churches and ruins scattered about the country.

So we go on pilgrimage; when we have holidays.

Our ancesters did it on foot, bullock- drawn carts and we do it by public or private conveyance .

Their is no great fun than having grannies and grand children, uncles and aunts, nephews and nieces with you when a ricketty old bus bedecked with a heaf of coconut flower on the front grille negotiates puffing and sneezing a long winding road in search of a religious site to pacify and quench our thirst and reverance for things of past.

This is the unfolding story of such trips to many historic and religious sites of Sri Lanka. Stretch on your easy-chair and join my extended family on these excursions to serendipity.
