INDEX

[NI18977] Fought in the French and Indian wars. He was also engaged in trade, owning a number of vessels. In 1686 he was ensign of the Hartford Trainband. He was named Lieutenant of the South Hartford Trainband in 1689, and Capt. of the Hartford Trainband in 1690. He served in King William's War, taking a company to Albany and Schenectady in 1689. In 1695 he served as Sgt. Major of Hartford Co and as deputy for Hartford in 1697/8. He and his wife were admitted to the South Church 3 Feb 1694/95. Jonathan had a son, Dr. Jonathan, one of the first highly educated physicians in Hartford. His son, Judge Jonathan, was a distinguished lawyer, and held many responsible offices. Estate inventory taken 4 Sep 1702, and amounted to £1344. It included half interest in two sloops and 100 acres at Cedar Swamp -- land his father had received from the state.

[NI11617] Susannah was in Boston in 1712, and she may be the Susannah Bull who married there 14 Aug 1712 to Benjamin Eliot.

[NI11620] Sybil left land to her brother, Jonathan, in her will dated 21 Feb 1747/8. Proved 18 Mar 1748/9.

[NI11624] Jonathan Bull studied medicine and surgery in Boston for seven years and was one of the first highly trained doctors in the state. He was licenses to practice in May 1722.

[NI11625] In 1732/3 Moses was one of the original proprietors of Harwinton and was referred to as being of E. Harwinton. In 1734-1740 he was in the Enfield town records. He was ensign of the Bolton Train Band.
