[NI17210] Son of Caleb and Hannah Stanley. He married first, 13 May 1696, to Hannah, daughter of Samuel Spencer, who died 5 Dec 1702. In October 1700, Caleb was appointed surveyor of lands for Hartford Co, and 8 May 1701 one of three commissioners to run the dividing line between New London and Preston, CT. His name frequently occurs in connection with the settlement of disputes arising between towns and individuals concerning the boundaries and division of lands. He assisted Eleazer Kimberly, when secretary of the colony, in writing, until chosen his successor in May 1709. He held the office until 4 Jan 1711/12 when he died of an epidemic then prevailing in Hartford. He was a clerk of the courts. His grandfather was Timothy Stanley, who removed early from Cambridge, and became an original proprietor of Hartford.
