[NI1074] John and Kathy lived the first 17 years of their married lives in Virginia, Bedford and Botetourt Counties; then moved to Highland Co., Ohio; then to Union Co., Indiana. In 1833 they moved to Des Moines Co., Iowa and lived there the rest of their lives. John was a farmer, and acquired much property in the Des Moines area. They were Dunkards, and were loyal members of the church. They opened their home for meetings of the congregation before a church house was built.
