Jacob and Margaret (Shafer) Sharps lived in Greenwich, their homestead being situated on the Pohatcong Creek and adjoined that of Jacob Sharps' brother, Peter. His wife was living in 1814 when, with her, he deeded 83 acres of land to his son John, but was probably deceased 2 Apr 1816, when he deeded 80 acres of land adjoining lands of Abraham Carpenter and C. Melick to Balser Carpenter. In 1816 Jacob Sharps came to the Wyoming Valley, PA, and on 24 Sep 1816 bought 42 acres of land in Exeter Twp. On 6 Jan 1820, Jacob Sharps came into possession of the Capt. George Taylor property at what was later Wyoming, PA. On 18 June 1821, Jacob Sharps bought 311 acres of land in Kingston. Will dated 9 Apr 1835, proved 6 Nov 1843. He was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church at Phillipsburg, NJ, and in 1772 was one of the signers of the Articles of Faith.

In 1816 John Sharps sold the farm his father had sold to him, in Greenwich, NJ, to Balser Carpenter, and removed to the Wyoming Valley, PA. On 16 Apr 1816 he bought 77 acres in Kingston.

Peter removed, with his father, to Kingston Twp, Luzerne Co, PA, in 1816. He moved from Kingston to Tunkhannock about 1836. After the death of his wife, Peter moved to his farm in Northmoreland. Will dated 8 June 1887, proved 14 Apr 1890

It appears that Jehiel moved to Shoreham, Addison Co, Vermont before his father, as the 1810 census lists the elder Jehiel Gates in Litchfield, CT, and the younger in Shoreham, VT. Jehiel Gates of Shoreham, VT served as a sergeant in the War of 1812 from 14 Oct 1813 to 17 Nov 1813 in Capt. Asahel Scovill's Co, Regiment of Riflemen (VT). Served from 12 Apr 1814 to 20 May 1814 in Co. of Capt. James Gray Jr., Sumner's Regiment (VT). He bought land in Dansville, Steuben Co, NY 21 Mar 1820. Later in 1820 his family was living in Ridgeway, Orleans Co, NY and in 1830 they were in the adjacent town of Barre. Jehiel died before 1840 in Royalton, Niagara County, NY. Census records indicate that he had one son and five daughters, but only one daughter has been positively identified.
