[NI2720] Wethersfield, CT between 1636-1638. Freeman 1637, on jury of Particular Court 1642, town clerk 1645-1659, Selectman 1646. He was a Rep to House of Magistrates at Hartford, serving until 1656. Moved to Hadley, MA by 1661. At Hadley, he was town clerk 1660, freeman 1661, selectman, assessor, and small claims commissioner. Deputy to CT General Court 1646-1659. Nathaniel was an original member of the Hampshire Troop, organized in March 1663/4 under Capt. John Pynchon. Will dated 29 May 1676, proved 26 Sep 1676.
[NI4654] Nathaniel was among the first to be alloted land on the west side of the Connecticut River in the Hadley settlement, and in 1667 was a signer of a petition to make Hatfield a separate town. He was made a freeman in 1690.
[NI4644] Joseph lived in Wethersfield until he removed with his father to Hadley, MA in 1659. He returned to Wethersfield in 1661. He resided in Northampton, MA from 1664 to 1674, and was a petitioner for the first settlement of Northfield, MA. He served in Capt. Beer's Co in King Philip's War. In 1683 the town of Northfield granted 50 acres of land to his heirs who had moved back to Wethersfield after Joseph's death.
[NI4646] Thomas was a first settler of Hadley, MA in 1659. The family removed to Wethersfield abt 1679. She was a member of the South Church, Hartford. He was an elector in Hartford Town Meeting 1684; surveyor 1696.
[NI4651] Born 6/15 Jul 1638. Married 4 Jan/Jun 1668. Samuel signed an engagement in 1661 to settle in Hadley, MA on the west side of the Connecticut River. In 1667 he was one of the signers of a petition to the General Court for the "west siders" to establish their own society and church and in 1670 Hatfield was incorporated as a separate town. He was made a freeman in 1690. He served the town as selectman, fence viewer, road surveyor, sergeant in the militia, and juror.
[NI2718] Obadiah was given an allotment of land in Hatfield where he built a house about 1668 when he married Sarah. He was a sergeant in King Philip's War which supposedly ended in 1676 with the death of Philip. But a catastrophic Indian raid led by Ashpelon occurred in Hatfield on 19 Sep 1677 in which Obadiah's house was burned, Sarah was wounded and left for dead but escaped, and Obadiah and one child perhaps their first born Sarah were taken captive with many others and forced to march to Canada. They were eventually ransomed and returned to Hatfield in the spring of 1678. Obadiah took his family to Stratford, CT where they were admitted to the Stratford church in 1680. He took up land in Wethersfield where he finally settled. He also received land in the Newington, CT grant in 1693. His will on file in Hartford, CT bears a Dickinson coat of arms.
[NI4660] He removed to Hadley with the first settlers in 1659. He was one of ten brought to court in 1676 and fined for "wearing silk in a flaunting manner, letting one's hair grow long, or otherwise misusing their liberties". He was active in the miligia; Cornet in 1685 and Lt. in 1702. Nehemiah also served the town as a measurer of land, selectman, and on a committee to build the Second Meeting House.
[NI4662] Hezekiah went to Hadley, MA with his father in 1659. In 1668 he was allotted land in Hatfield, MA. He was a trader in goods and real estate, and lived or owned property in several towns in CT and MA. He bought land in Brookfield, MA before his marriage, and he was still there in 1688, when he returned to Hatfield. He is listed there as an innkeeper in 1692. He moved to Springfield, MA about 1693, where he established a large trading center.
[NI4664] Died without issue.
