INDEX

[NI3068] William Russell is first found in the records of Salem, MA on a deed dated 20 Jan 1673/4. William was a fisherman employed on Salem vessels. He was smong the residents of Goodman George Goldthwaite's Ward ordered on 25 Mar 1678/9 to appear at Salem Court to take the oath of allegiance. As a freeman he became entitled to the rights and privileges of a permanent citizen of the town and colony. In 1685 the family moved to Reading. By 1725 they are back in Salem. William's will is dated 11 Jan 1731/2.

[NI3455] In 1709 Ebenezer paid tax for the support of the Salem Village (Danvers) Church. His intention to marry was published at Andover, MA, 14 Jun 1710, and they were married there in September of that year. Although Ebenezer paid Salem Village Church tax in 1718, it appears that they lived in North Reading until as late as 1738. In 1720 he was a taxpayer in the Reading Second Church precinct. In 1734 he purchased land in Ellington Parish, Windsor, CT. Although he did not immediately move to Ellington, his son Samuel was there in 1734. In 1738 Ebenezer purchased more land at Ellington Parish. By April 1739, the family had moved to Ellington Parish.
