[NI18646] Joseph Allen was the first Deacon of the Church in the Middle Precinct, Braintree, organized 10 Sep 1707. He was Cornet of a Troop of Horse; Assessor of Braintree, 1706; Town Treasurer, 1707; Selectman, 1707, 1714, 1715; Representative 1715. There is no will of his on record, nor any settlement of his estate.

[NI11443] Rebeckah was the daughter of John Leader of Boston. It is very possible that she is mistakenly called "Ruth" in some of the Braintree town records. The Records of the First Church at Braintree list all the children in the town records as children of Rebecca. Samuel Leader, brother of John, in his will probated 27 Jul 1671, names Abigail Leader, Rebecca Allin, and Thomas Leader as his brother John's three children. A Suffolk Co deed dated 8 Oct 1678 is signed by Experience Orris, Abigail Orris, Joseph Allen of Brantry, and Rebeckah Allen.
