INDEX

[NI1561] Very little is know about Anderson Ivie in Franklin County, GA. It is presumed that he was a son of Lott Ivey who lived on Freeman's Creek. Anderson Ivie paid poll tax in John Henderson's district in 1800. He married Sarah Allred c1800, and their first child Polly Ann Ivie was born in Franklin County , GA on 7 April 1801. Both Anderson and wife Sarah were charter members of Grove Level Primitive Baptist Church in 1801, and Anderson served as the church's first scribe. The part of Franklin County where Anderson Ivie lived is now in present day Banks County, GA.f 50 acres on Broad River, Franklin County for $100. The land was on Freeman's Creek, as later tax assessments attest. Since land sales were not always recorded in a timely fashion, he and his family may have been living on this land prior to the 1804 recording date. e and wife Sarah were also given a letter of dismissal. Letters of dismissal were issued to members in good standing who were moving, and who would then present them at the Baptist church in their new locale. There is no hard evidence that Anderson left Franklin county at this time, as he does not show up on any known Bedford County, TN record until 1815, but in 1808 Lott Ivey paid taxes on 100 acres on Freeman's Creek for Anderson Ivie, a "non-resident." Thomas Ivy paid the taxes on this property in 1811, and Littleton Meeks paid in 1818. A strong indication that he did in fact leave Franklin County in the l807-08 period.me deeded to James Russell, his son, is located south of Duck River and west of Dry Creek. The records are on file at Shelbyville, Bedford's county seat. These deeds are dated 1814 - purchase date, and 1829-1830 - selling date. Anderson Ivie was apparently a member of the Rock Creek Primitive Baptist Church by 1815, and are listed again as members in 1817. Anderson Ivie recorded the purchase of more land in Bedford county in 1819, and on 19 December of that year, Ezekiel Billington jr married Polly Ann Ivie (daughter of Anderson Ivie) in Bedford county. Anderson and Sarah Ivie are again listed as members of Rock Creek Baptist Church in 1821. , both of Bedford county, for love and affection for my son James Ivie, 50 acres of land on West Fork of Rock Creek. Borders Wilson's Road, Wm Miller, Abednge Robertson of Sink Hole Spring. Wit. John A Ivie and Ezekiel Billington. Registered 3 November 1829. Sometime after the transfer of this property the Ivie and Allred families must have made a decision to move to Missouri, for Anderson Ivie, James R. Ivie and James and Isaac Allred all sold their property in Bedford county, to James L. Ewing during 1829-30. In September of 1829, a letter from Brother Anderson Ivy and Brother Ezekiel Billington and wives prayed letters of dismission from the Rock Creek Primitive Baptist Church, which was granted. , Monroe Co, MO, names wife Sarah, children Polly Ann Billington, John A., Elizabeth Allred, William S., Isaac L., Sally M. Long, Martin T., James R. and Thomas C.g in motion the terms of Anderson Ivie's will. On 12 February, the Anderson Sarah Ivie died sometime late in 1860 or early 1861, setting in motion the terms of Anderson Ivie's will. On 12 February, the Anderson Ivie estate [excluding 160 acres in section 21 (54-8)], was appraised at $3,591.35, of which $144.90 was derived from the proceeds of Sarah Ivie's Estate, an outstanding note $420, and slaves valued at $2,850. The heirs of Anderson Ivie Petitioned the Monroe County Probate Court on 8 May 1861, requesting that the eight slaves left to them jointly be put up for sale and the proceeds divided among them. The auction took place at the County Court House, on the first Monday in June.

[NI1525] In 1822, James Russell Ivie signed a petition to dam the Duck River at Shelbyville in Bedford county. The petition of William Galbreath, was submitted to the General Assembly, State of Tennessee. He purchased a lot in Shelbyville, together with a wood carding machine for which he paid the sum of $2,500. The said machine was on the north side of Duck River in the town of Shelbyville. The sought a permit to build a dam across Duck River, it was signed by James R Ivie, and Thomas Allred among others.oth of Bedford county, for love and affection for my son James Ivie, 50 acres of land on West Fork of Rock Creek. Reddick's brother William M Allred elaborates, "In 1832 George Hinkle, Daniel Cathcart and James Johnson came along and raised up a branch of the Church called the Salt River Branch. I was Baptized in Salt River on the 10th of September 1832. There were 19 Baptized that day including my Parents and one or two of my Sisters." James and Isaac Allred their wives, William M. Allred, and others were baptized on 10 September, and the next day James Russell Ivie and wife Eliza were also baptized in the Salt River.ckson County, Missouri reaches the flash point when the office of the churches newspaper is burned by a mob. By November Mormons are forced to flee Jackson County, with most settling in Clay and Ray counties across the Missouri River. In 1836 they were forced to move again, to Caldwell Co. James R. Ivie received a land patent in Far West, Caldwell County, MO in 1836. There are records of James R Ivie, Isaac, James, William, William Hackly Allred, Ezekiel Billington, and Moses Martin Sanders families in Caldwell County by 1837.m Young Company in 1848. After arriving at Salt Lake, they were sent to a place called Roads Valley, near the Provo River. In 1851 James R Ivie was elected a member of the first town council in Provo. In March 1851, James R Ivie was ordained a High Priest by Bringham Young, in Provo. e first presiding elder in 1859. In the spring of 1863 they moved to Round Valley, later called Scipio. The Indians became very hostile, stealing herds of cattle from the pioneers, and in 1866 James was killed by the Indians.

[3569] LDS

[NI1564] An Elder and President of the Salt River Branch (LDS) in 1832, and a member Zion's Camp, 1834. He was apparently a Campbellite minister in Adair county in the 1850's. He died in Montague county, Texas, not far from where his sister Elizabeth Ivie Allred died in 1870.

[NI1568] Isaac L Ivie, brother of James R. was married to Melissa Long by Justice of the Peace, Theodore G Price, on 4 March 1842

[NI1569] The only record of any Ivie presence in Nauvoo, IL is the signing of the Scroll Petition by Thomas C Ivie c1843-4, his marriage to Amanda Jane Moore, and birth of their daughter Sarah Jane Ivie there on 1 August 1845. th presented a true bill for murder against Thomas C Ivie, for killing his cousin Isaac Allred. A jury was then chosen and the case proceeded; the trial lasted until the 16th when it was admitted to jury, who returned a verdict of guilty, and on Friday, June 17th, Judge Garner Snow pronounced a sentence of death upon the prisoner. Thomas Ivie appealed his case to be tried before Judge Eccles, and on the 3rd of July, Sheriff A. Tuttle left Manti with the prisoner for Camp Floyd. Hilda Madsen Longsdorf writes that "Ivie was kept at Camp Floyd for sometime, then turned loose. He went to Missouri where he quarreled with a brother-in-law, who killed him and left his body in a corn field to be devoured by the buzzards. This happened about a year after he left Utah." f her death.

[NI1570] 26 October 1843, William Long was married to Sarah Ivie, a sister of James R., by Justice of the Peace, W. N. Penn.
