Emily Winnifred Austing

Married to Frank Moore about 1903.

Died following the birth of Regina in 1905 at age 23.

Originally cousins, then step-sister and step-brother, Edward and Regina were very close until the family was split up.

Regina went to live with her grandmother, Frank's mother, "Grandma Aveling",. When she died, Regina went into an orphanage and was sent to Australia through one of the "supply the Empire with new stock" type of movements.

A lovely studio portrait of Regina, taken in Melbourne in 1925 and inscribed

To my dear brother
From Regina

Regina married Dennis O'Sullivan in Australia and had 8 children. Just after the war my father came to Australia on the battleship HMS King George V, and met Regina's family including six of the children pictured here under the main turret.

The photo is a copy of a print in a frame and the writing on the back is not my father's. Who has the original??

The children are named, from left to right,
Frank, Tom, Paddy, Sheila, Laura and Bridget.

Here's another one. How about those 15-inch guns!
