Edward Moore, my father, was born on 24th December, 1903, a time when people's fortunes changed rapidly. Rarely did people expect to live to see old bones. Death following child birth was relatively common and infant mortality was high.
My paternal grandmother, Constance, who died at age 32, was from the Austing family and was one of six girls who survived to adulthood. Her sisters, my great aunts, are known to me only to a varying and limited extent. I only met one, 'Aunty Florrie', when I was a child, but her photo album survives and has been a source of information and some inspiration to research further.
Thus the family structure of my father's ancestors and descendents cannot be regarded without maps, charts and liberal explanations. This is an attempt to clarify the picture somewhat.
My father's father remains unknown. Apparently 'the family' knew who he was but concealed his identity due to perceived 'defects' (nationality, religion, who knows?). His mother married Frank Moore, a person of dubious character but obviously a born salesman and good at attracting women, and having them bear children. There is a page here just to clarify Franks situation and map his immediate descendents.
