ANCHOR HISTORY
History of the Anchor Club

The Anchor Club is a youth organization sponsored by Pilot International. In 1952 Pilot International officially adopted, as an international project, the sponsorship of Anchor Clubs. Anchor Club is a nonprofit organization that works along side their sponsoring Pilot Club on projects focusing on brain disorders. This includes such activities as the Alzheimer's Memory Walk and the Very Special Arts Program. Anchor was initially open to girls in high school and then was later opened up to both boys and girls in grades eighth through twelve.

The Quitman Anchor Club was begun in 1999 by the Pilot Club of Quitman. The club has since expanded it's program to include and eighth graders at the Quitman - Middle School.
The Objectives of Anchor Club are:

to develop initiative, leadership and personal integrity.
to build respect for the rights of others and practice thoughtfulness of and helpfulness to others.
to provide experience in living and working together.
to emphasize the importance of home and family.
to serve the school and community.
to prepare for useful citizenship.
