Definitions
  1. Kampfrichter Ring referee.  Literal Translation: Kampf=bout or fight; richter=Judge
  2. Ranglisten A list showing the ranking of the wrestlers at a Swiss Wrestling Tournament.  Each wrestler is awarded from 8.25 to 10 points normally for six rounds depending if the person lost, tied or won.  The individual with highest number of points is the winner.  Literal translation: Rang=ranking; Listen=list.
  3. Schoenschwinger the individual that provides the best sportsmanship, technical execution of the various Swiss wrestling maneuvers as displayed in the web site.  Literal translation: Schoen=Nice, Beautiful, etc.; Schwinger=a individual that participates in a Swiss Wrestling Tournament (Schwingfest).
  4. Schwingerhosen Special designed pants normally about knee high made from heavy tarp like material.  When worn by the Schwinger (Swiss Wrestler) the rolls up Schwingerhosen has high on the leg as comfortable.  A heavy belt holds the pants around the midsection.  The wrestlers must have at least one hand on the pants in order to win.  Literal Translation: Schwinger=An individual that participates in a Swiss Wrestling Tournament; Hosen=Pants.
  5. Schwingerphoto A picture of a Schwinger.  Literal translation: Schwinger:An individual that participates in a Swiss Wrestling Tournament; photo: Photograph
  6. Schwingfestbesuche The number of people that attend a Schwingfest (Swiss Wrestling Tournament).  Literal Translation: Schwingfest=Swiss Wrestling Tournament; Besuch(e)=Visitor or visiting.
  7. Schwingklub A club that sponsors training for Swiss Wrestling and may also sponsor a Schwingfest.  Literal translation: Schwing=Swiss Wrestling; klub=club or organization.
  8. Steinstossen a special event normally held immediately after a Schwingfest in which the strongest men trow a heavy rock, normally about 200 pounds, as far as they can.  The one that throws the rock is of course the winner of the Steinstossen event.  Literal translation: Stein= Stone; Stossen=Throwing.
