Perhaps lightning does not strike twice in the same place, but that is not true of alligators, as Ralph Othus learned in April of 2003 when two gigantic gators decided to fight it out practically in his back yard. These pictures illustrate what can happen. Of course Ralph was wise enough to take his pictures with a little distance between himself and the contestants.
The two gators are regulars, swimming up and down the canals in Imperial Terrace Mobile Home Park, here in Tavares, Florida.
We can see that one of them (not shown in the pictures) has had a good deal of the skin torn off his left rear leg. Of course we don't know if he was the winner or the loser.
Probably the loser because there was a female gator watching as the fighting took place and she probably is in the company of the winner. Both gators survived
