OBITUARY - Ara Hester Himmel Stroops
Services for Mrs. Ara Stroops, 84, who died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Batterman of the Fairfield community, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church of which she was a member.
The Rev. Doyle Hays will officiate and burial will be in the Inland cemetery with the Butler-Volland Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Stroops, a native of Browning, Ill. came to this community in 1916. She was the widow of Cornelius Stroops and for many years resided with her daughter, Mrs. Peter Evans of Ayr, going to the Batterman home in recent months.
She leaves also another daughter, Mrs. Leonard Schuman of Harvand, 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; her brothers and sister, Michael and Issac and Miss Mary Himmel of Browning, Ill. and Mrs. Caroline Harris of Rushville, Ill.
The Stroops family has suggested that expression of sympathy may take the form of gifts to Grace Church.
