I do Genealogy as a hobby, and I am tracing my surname "DONOVAN" family background. My Irish heritage originally came from County Antrim, North Ireland, and later from Ennis, near the 'Shannon River' area, of County Clare, Ireland. In May of 1882, my g-Grandfather arrived in New York City, USA. He had sailed from Cobb Harbor, County Cork, Ireland, with his new bride, Mary Buckley.

My Grandfather:
Michael Augustus DONOVAN
He was born 2 Oct. 1892 (the fifth of five children), and raised, at Wysox, Bradford Co., Pa.
He later relocated, first to Buffalo, Erie Co., NY., and then to Williamville (suburb of Buffalo), Erie County, NY.
#1 Spouse: Ann Catherine MacDONALD, b: 1890.
Married: 21 May 1910, at: Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY.
#2 Spouse: Mary Margaret Tourtellot, b:19 Sept. 1903, at Ithaca, Tompkins Co., NY.
Married: 4 June 1923, at Buffalo, NY.
Michael & Mary DONOVAN had one child, a son, Jerry. He was born and raised at Buffalo, NY.
He served in the US Navy during World War 2, and is a veteran of that war.
Jerry's spouse: June Stoneburner (I have no background information on June at all). They lived in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. They raised four daughters there, one of them dying at the age of 6 yrs.
In the early 1970's, the family left Buffalo, NY., and moved to California.
My grandfather, Michael DONOVAN, and his second wife, Mary Tourtellot, last lived at: Williamville (suburb of Buffalo), Erie County, NY.
Michael Augustus DONOVAN died 16 Sept. 1965, & Mary died 2 March 1969, at Buffalo, NY. They are buried, with Jerry's daughter, at:
White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery.

My Great-grandfather James DONOVAN

James Joseph DONOVAN, b: April 1848.
Born at: (I believe) Antrim, Antrim Co., Ireland.
He came to the USA in May of 1882, and settled at a farm in Wysox, Bradford County, Pa.
About 1922, he relocated to Elmira, Chemung Co., NY.
He died at Elmira, NY, on 12 Dec. 1923. He is buried at:
St. Peter & St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, at Elmira, NY.
#2 Spouse: Mary E. Buckley
Married in May of 1882, at: County Clare, Ireland
The marriage to Mary E. BUCKLEY was James Joseph DONOVAN's second marriage. His first wife, whom he married in Ireland, died shortly after they were married.
