Pennsylvania doesn't make it easy because the laws are based on the assumption that a possible desire for confidentiality for some people should impede the need for truth for the majority. What a misconception- every birthparent I know is as annoyed by these laws as adoptees are! And the lawmakers hold this power that enslaves us all. It doesn't have to be that way. We are adults and can handle our own affairs, thanks, and it is not the role of the state to block adults from free association. It's also not the role of the state to falsify birth certificates. Most birthparents and adoptees want to know the other person is doing well and the prohibitive "confidentiality" laws are protecting no one. Let's let everyone speak for themselves. And let's stop this secrecy that makes people have to pay "intermediaries" of the court or the adoption agencies outrageous sums of money. Adoption Pennsylvania If you were adopted in PA, take a look at your manufactured birth certificate. Maybe you were told your adoptive parents had fertility issues. Well, according to your birth certificate, they managed to give birth to you. How about that?

There is a lot of love involved in adoption- the love to carry and relinquish, the love to adopt and nuture. It's a great human concept that got ruined by law. Unfortunately, the love and good intentions of many individuals are hindered by a state that insists people remain clueless about their biological families. So where is the love for the "child" (who by the time he or she searches is an ADULT) in a system that insists the adult adoptee has no rights in an agreement that was made about them without their consent? Is it right to hold someone captive by such an agreement forever? Where is the compassion for people who have lost their child or their entire histories? Most birthparents and adoptees want to speak for themselves and do not need laws to separate them. Adoptive parents should love their kids enough to understand this is one thing that lots of love doesn't cure- the need to know where you came from. It wouldn't hurt to have a few clues on medical history, ethnic background, or a real birth certificate like other citizens either.
