From: Bill Brobst <brobstwa@interpath.com> To: Date: Sat, 05 Feb 2000 17:51:09 -0500 Subject: New Propst Book Finally, I've pulled together all of my Propst information into one place. It's a new book, entitled "The American Propsts". It follows the history of a half dozen different Propst families from their German roots, through their immigration in America, and where they settled -- Pennsylvania, West Virginia, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Illinois. Much of the book describes the emigration of Johann Michael Propst (b 1712) who came to America in 1733 with his parents and sister. Others covered are Knott Knelse Propst (b abt 1840), Johann Erhardt Propst (b 1823), Dr. Henry Propst (b abt 1745) who married Elisabeth Beaver Klein, Dr. Heinrich Propst (b abt 1750) who married Catherine Abendschon, and Johan Nicholas Propst (b 1767) in Prussia. Not only is their family history shown, but there are genealogical descendancy charts for each of them. This is a compendium of information, a collection of data from many sources. It is also the first published account of Johann Michael's sister Anna Barbara who married Johan Conrad Gauger; she had been left behind in Philadelphia when Johann Michael's family moved to Lancaster and then to West Virginia. With this publication, I bow out of Propstology, and will concentrate all my future efforts on the Probst and Brobst lines, my own family, which will keep me fully occupied and out of the bars and pool halls for some time to come. Send your questions about the Propst lineage to Dianne Camp, Curator, Propst Family Registry, at Camps@Mail.Com or DCamp@IName.Com. The book is available for $6.00, plus $1.00 for postage, or a total of $7.00. Just send a check to the Registry; address below. If your name is Propst, give one to your kids! And be sure to take a look at Dianne Camp's Propstology page at http://CampD.Tripod.Com.
