I actually don't know how my family fits in. Robert Poynor and Sally Smith married in Halifax Co VA 29 Dec 1798. I know there were Banks in Halifax VA. All I know is Robert's parent were John Poynor and Elinor or Nelly?. John and Elinor's first land record were in Amelia Co VA 1764.

Robert and Sally Smith Poynor named their son Ashley Banks Poynor. And the Banks name was used as a middle name in further generation. There is also a Ashley Banks Powell born in Caswell Co NC and served in the Civil War. Don't know how the Powell and Poynor were kin.

Was there ever and Eleanor Banks? born circa 1740? My Poynor family eventually moved to Williamson Co TN about 1829.
