You are most welcome and I wish you luck.  This group is a branch-off of the larger Marjoribanks family discussions and so far most of the discussion has centered around our exploring Kincardine.

I am writing to tell you that there is a Banks-McEwen connection although it is earlier.  There were many McEwen's in Fairfield Co, SC.  The name was spelled with many variations and by the time I was growing up (1950's) the family I knew by that name spelled and pronounced it McKown.

This group's Kincardine connection is Samuel Banks who emigrated to SC in the 1790's and shortened his name.  His mother-in-law was Margaret Cameron Robinson.  She married second a McEwen, possibly Hugh.  Although her death is recorded in the Bank's Bible's (1829) we can find no record of her burial in SC.  So I have researched the McEwen's to a small extent, hoping to figure out what happened to our g.g.g.g. grandmother.  If you encounter someone who is researching McEwens in SC or possibly Miss., please keep me in mind.
