CARVER, SAMPSON. 1755-1840 COFFEE.
Sampson Carver was born in North Carolina about 1755, a
son of William Carver. The elder Carver lived in Cumberland
County and was among those who signed resolutions opposing
English tyranny, June 20, 1775 (see Wheeler's History of North
Carolina, page 125). Sampson Carver was a faithful Revolu-
tionary soldier, as was also two or three of his brothers in Cum-
berland County. His wife was named Rhoda Edmondson, born
1760 in North Carolina. To Sampson and Rhhoda were born the
following known children:
1. William b. 1780, m. Clarisy Carter, Oct. 23, 1809.
2. Jesse b. 1786, m. Boissy ________.
3. Elijah b. 1799, m. Elizabeth A. ________.
4. Samuel b. 1800, m. Penny ________.
5. Sampson B. b. 1805, m (wife unknown).
6. Margaret b. 1807, m. 1st, Calvin Thigpen; 2nd Moses Kirk-
land, Sr.
7. Rhoda b. 1812, m. Abraham Hargraves.

Mr. Carver died about 1838 in that part of Ware that was
cut into Coffee County in 1854. Moses Kirkland was adminis-
trator of his estate and applied in Coffee County for dismission,
Jan. 28, 1856, having wound up the estate.
