Joanna Waddill
Chapter
UDC ®
Joanna Waddill Chapter No. 294, Louisiana Division, United
Daughters of the Confederacy ® was organized on 8 April 1899, the
first Chapter in East Baton Rouge Parish. Our colors are red and
white, our flower the Wisteria, and our motto "We Cling to the
Memory of our Heroes."
Our meetings open at 1:30 p.m. with coffee and socialization on
the second Monday of each month at the Louisiana State Archives
building in Baton Rouge. We do not meet during the heat of the
summer.
Objectives of the United Daughters of the Confederacy
® are
Historical, Educational, Benevolent, Memorial, and Patriotic.
Joanna Waddill Chapter interprets these goals as
- Keeping the History of the War Between the States true and honest.
- Expanding public knowledge of the women of the Confederacy
and the myriad ways they too served.
- Showing a benevolent interest in the welfare of Confederate
descendants.
- Marking and protecting the graves of Confederate soldiers in
Sacred Memory of their service.
- Fostering the same Patriotic fervour in the current
generations of United Americans.

daughters.
Our Real Daughters
The Real Daughters of the Confederacy are those women whose
father served. As might be expected, 133 years after Appomattox,
there are not many of these women. Members of Joanna Waddill
Chapter are honored to have two Real Daughters.
The Real Granddaughters are those women whose grandfather served,
and Joanna Waddill Chapter is pleased to have 27 Real
Granddaughters among us.
Ancestors of our Current Members
The members of Joanna Waddill salute the memory of our ancestors, presented in alphabetical
order for your convenience.
