| 5 months ago I bought myself a computer for my birthday. I was the last one in my family to get one. I'm the stubborn one in the family. I felt that I didn't need a computer. Well,I was wrong! I started doing my family tree and I really needed one bad. It has made my searching a little easier to say the least. | |||||||||||||||||||

I started searching my surname "HALSTEAD" and discovered that it wasn't as uncommon as I thought it was. Then I discovered that there were different spellings. "HALSTEAD,HALSTED,HALLSTEAD, HALLSTED,HAULSTEAD" I was having so much trouble finding my HALSTEAD'S that I started to keep file cards on all the others. I've got plenty of HALSTEAD info to share. Then I decided to get the rest of the family names from my mom. That was a big mistake now I have over 75 surnames in my files,and they're all as elusive as my HALSTEAD'S! | |||||||||||||||||||

Now that I got the search going the rest of my family is doing research to. We share and compare notes. One thing that I've learned so far is to keep detailed notes. Doing the research I've searched in 8 countries and 11 states so far,and I haven't even had to leave my home.
