ORCA

The Orca! So beautiful, so mysterious.

Hello and welcome to my world of Orcas.

Orcas are Odonteceti or toothed whales and belong to the Delphinid family.

The Orca is the largest member of the dolphin family. Orcas are mammals, they have lungs and breathe air.

Orca mother's are very protective of their young. The calves are very curious and playful. Orcas are very social animals, they spend much of their time touching. They rest, play and travel in family groups called pods. Orcas bear live young every 3-10 years.

Once a daughter of a given female are adult and have offspring of their own, they form the next unit of Orca life: The subpod. Subpod members travel together and are usually closely related.
