Pancake Rocks West coast South Island.
 

These rocks have been formed over the years with the action of the sea on sedimentary rocks. This picture shows a blow-hole: the sea water comes in underneath the rocks, and forces itself out throw tiny holes in the rocks. When the tide is right the blow holes put on a spectacular show for the visitors.
Paparoa National Park is New Zealands smallest National Park. It is predominately lowland and there are many limestone
formations and caves. The vegetation is very tropical looking with many ferns and New Zealands only palm tree the Nikau
Palm. Paparoa National Park is situated on the South Islands West Coast.

The beautiful Arthurs Pass is one of 3 passes which links the east and west coasts of the South Island.
New Zealands most scenic rail trip passes through here from Christchurch on the way to Greymouth via Arthurs Pass town and
the Arthurs Pass National Park.
 

We will pass over the alps again to the East coast and come to a quaint city named
