Way
of The Cross
I
Jesus is Condemned to Death
Lord
Jesus, may we deliver ourselves up
with
patience and love to the many little deaths that fidelity in
your
service may require of us.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
As
God's own people,
we
have Christ as our head.
He
delivered Himself up for our sins.
In
accepting a cruel death,
He
won for us the right to eternal bliss with God our Father.
II
Jesus Takes His Cross
Strengthen
us, Lord Jesus,
to
carry our cross with faith and trust, and without complaining
of
its weight or size.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You have redeemed the world by Your holy cross
As
the redeemed of the Lord,
we
are called to walk in the footsteps of the humble,
cross-bearing
Christ.
Each
of us has his daily cross to bear
to
be worthy to share our Savior's glory.
III
The First Fall
Be
with us always, Lord Jesus;
despite
the weakness of the flesh
may
we never waiver in our loyalty to You.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
The
only safe way to the promised land
is
the way of the cross.
As
pilgrims here,
we
retrace the same path Christ trod for our salvation.
Through
trial and affliction,
we
go forward with eyes fixed on our heavenly goal.
IV
Jesus Meets His Mother
Lord
Jesus,
may Your Mother and ours
remain always a sure hope
and comfort for us your pilgrim people.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
The
Mother of Jesus cares for all the redeemed
who still journey on this
earth.
Her spiritual maternity
will last until all the
elect are safe in the heavenly fatherland.
She helps us on the
sorrowful way to keep our gaze focused on our true home.
V
Simon Of Cyrene Helps Jesus
May
we be generous,
Lord Christ,
in coming to the aid of
our afflicted fellow pilgrims
during our earthly journey.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
Love
of God and of neighbor,
marks the true disciple
of Christ.
When God was a very
close neighbor,
Simon of Cyrene hesitated.
He had to be compelled
to help our Redeemer carry His cross.
VI
Veronica Wipes The Face Of Jesus
Dear
Lord,
may we never turn a cold
shoulder,
but always a smiling face
to those who look at us for comfort.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
As
God's chosen ones,
we are to show mercy and
compassion in our dealings with others.
It is our mission to comfort
the sorrowing,
to put new heart into the
disheartened,
and to raise the spirits
of those we meet.
VII
Jesus Falls The Second Time
Gird
us with new strength, dear Christ,
for the steep climb and
the hard stretches along the road to our glorious resurrection.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
As
God's own people,
we continue our search
for a future and abiding city.
The road is long and rugged,
not always easy to follow.
When we fall,
we must rise again like
our Savior on the way to Calvary.
VIII
Jesus Speaks To The Women Of Jerusalem![]()
Lord
Jesus,
may the assurance that
our Father in heaven
will some day wipe our
tears away and sustain us in the dark and painful hours of life.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
The
theatre of our earthly pilgrimage is sometimes a valley of tears.
The daughters of Jerusalem weeping for our Savior were reminded,
as we are now,
that they had reason to
weep for themselves and their children.
IX
Jesus Falls The Third Time
Help
us, dear Lord,
to pick ourselves up each
time we fall.
Conscious of our
weaknesses,
may we stretch a helping
hand to all who share our human frailty.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
Our
Cross-Bearer stumbled a third time in the dust,
yet won a name which is
above all names.
But the hour of
shame had to precede His hour of glory.
So must it be for all of
us, the people He has redeemed.
X
Jesus Is Stripped Of His Garments
Dear
Jesus,
stripped of your garments
in the passion,
bless all our efforts at
purification and renewal.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
We
purify and renew ourselves
that the vision of Christ
may shine more brightly
in the church and the world.
So we strip ourselves of
deeds of darkness;
we cast off all hindrances
to our growth in the new life of Christ.
XI
Jesus Is Nailed To The Cross
We
give thanks and praise, dear Savior,
for submitting willingly
to suffering and death for our sakes.
We bless your precious
cross by which the joy and salvation came into the world.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
They
crucified Him,
mocked His dignity and
deprived Him of physical freedom.
Thus He acquired
for us our heritage,
the dignity and freedom
of the sons of God.
XII
Jesus Dies On The Cross
We
are Yours, Blessed Savior,
whether we live or whether
we die.
In baptism we have
agreed to be Yours in time and in eternity.
May we be made dead
to sin and alive to God with You.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
He
was holy, innocent, undefiled.
He knew nothing of sin,
but came to blot out the
sins of the world.
He proved His love
by laying down His life for us.
XIII
Jesus Is Taken Down From The Cross
Lord
Jesus, You are the Resurrection and the Life.
May we stand before
the world as Your witnesses,
vivid signs of the Living
God.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
At
the end of our earthly journey,
we like our Blessed Redeemer,
are taken down from the
cross of life.
United with Him
in the likeness of His death,
we shall be so in the likeness
of His resurrection also.
XIV
Jesus Is Laid In The Sepulcher
Lord
Jesus,
may we always continue
in the strength
which comes from our hope
in your mercy,
goodness and love for us.
We adore You, O Christ, and praise you.
You
have redeemed the world by Your holy cross.
In
God's plan,
each of us becomes acquainted
with suffering
until finally death closes
our eyes.
But the grave will
not hold us captives forever.
In God's hour, we
shall rise, nevermore to die.
Prayer
O
God, our Heavenly Father,
by
Your great mercy we are born anew
to
a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Your Son.
We
look forward to the inheritance,
imperishable
and unfading,
which
you have reserved for us in heaven.
We
thank You for calling us to eternal glory in Jesus our Savior.
We
ask Your forgiveness for the many times we have failed in following Christ.
May
the remembrance of His life,
passion,
and resurrection,
sustain
us on our earthly way of the cross.
May
His example strengthen us in faith, hope, and love.
And
when we come to die, may we,
by
Your gracious goodness,
be
born again to eternal life.
Amen.
Christ is Risen Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
"Lastly, he showed Himself
to the Eleven themselves while they were at table.
He reproached them
for their incredulity and obstinacy
because they had refused
to believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.
And He said to them,
"Go, out to the whole world;
proclaim the Good News
to all creation".
