Berniece Conner).  Mary Ellen Breen (daughter of John Clarence Breen & Della Jane

Tom Tombs age 72 died in Ellis Fischel Cancer Hospital in Columbia, MO May 11, 1953.  A son of Jim & Frances
Tombs. Born December 13, 1881, he first married Maggie Smith who preceded him in death. On July 10, 1950 he was
united in marriage with Dolly Patton, who survives.  He leaves 3 sons, Everett, Louis, and Joner; a sister, Della; 2
brothers: Ed & Charlie Tombs.  Funeral at the Ozark Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Rob officiating. Interment in
the Holst Cemetery. Funeral services were handled by Kidwell Funeral Home, Versailles, MO.

THOMAS CALTON
 Thomas Cleveland Calton, 90, Versailles, died Monday evening, Dec. 3 at the Good Shepherd Home in Versailles.
He was born June 12, 1889 in Camden county, a son of the late Richard and Talitha Hibdon Calton.
 He was married Sept 23, 199 to Bertha Mae McCasland, who preceded him in death in 1960.
 He is survived by three sons; Olver Calton, Apache Junction, AZ, Andrew Calton, Bonner Springs Kan. and Grover
Calton, Oak Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Rosie Hayes, Armstrong and Mrs. Maxine DeRossett, Independence; one
brother Charley Calton of Barnett; 16 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
 Services were held Friday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at the West Union Baptist Church with the Rev. George Duckworth and
c.R. Morgan officiating.  Rev. and mrs. Kenneth Carpenter sang "How Great Thou Art" "In The Garden" and " The
Unclouded Day", accompanied by Mrs. Marilyn Morgan.  Grandsons served as pallbearers.  Interment was in the
Versailles Cemetery under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home.

 John Edward Calton, 81, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 4, at the home of his son, Aubrey Calton, of Versailles.
 He was born in Camden County on March 5, 1892, the son of the late richard and Talitha Hibdon Calton.
 In July, 1917 he was married to Miss Hattie McCasland, who survives at the home.
 Mr. Calton was a veteran of World War I.
 Surviving are his wife, six sons, Aubrey and John Calton, of Versailles, Ben Calton, Olean, Jim, Roy and Lonnie
Calton, Russellville; six daughters, Mrs. Elsie Tryon, Barnett, Mrs. Broox Sullesn, Eunice Calton, Alice Calton and Mrs.
Anna Wells, of Eldon, Mrs. Rosie Howser, Rocky Mount; two brothers, Cleve Calton, Versailles and Charles Calton,
Barnett; twenty-six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
 Funeral services were held at Union Baptist Church at Rocky Mount at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, the Rev. J.N.
DeLong and Rev. Mel Burnett officiating.  Grandsons of Mr. Calton served as pallbearers.  Interment was in Versailles
cemetery with funeral arrangements by the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home.

p.m. today (Thursday) at the High Point Baptist Church.
 She was born Jan. 19, 1901, in Camden County to Andrew Jackson and Rosie Andeline Cantrell McCasland.  She
was married to John Edward Calton, who died May 4, 1973.
 Mrs. Calton spent all of her life in mid-Missouri.
 Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Elsie Tryon, Mrs. Broox Sullens, Mrs. Anna Wells, and Mrs. Alice Calton, all
of Eldon, Mrs. Rose Mary Howser, Rocky Mount, and Mrs. Eunice Castell, Waynesville; six sons, Aubrey Calton and
John Calton, both of Versailles, Jim Calton, Roy Calton and Lonnie Calton all of Russellville, an dBen Calton, Olean;
two sisters, Mrs. Ada Calton, Barnett, and Mrs. Jessie Coons, Latham; two brothers, Frank McCasland, Gravois Mills
and John McCasland, Latham and 25 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
 Burial will be in rockdale Cemetery near Hurricane Deck in Camden County under the direction of Phillips Funeral

Notes for Edna Ethel Calton:
Edna was adored by her younger sisters, Alice and Anna and her  niece Hazel. She used
to sit them on a rug and give each of them a quart jar of cream to churn into butter.
Whenever she would make a cake she would make each of them a small bowl of
frosting to eat.  She worked in Eldon and would bring each of them a large bag of
puffed wheat to eat and when it was gone she would bring more.  She was an excellent
cook and baked cakes, cookies, and cinnamon rolls.
She commited suicide by shooting herself with a 22 caliber rifle.

Surviving her, in addition to her husband, are five sisters, Broox Sullins of Jefferson
City, Rosie Howser of Rocky Mount and Elsie Calton Tryon, Anna Wells and Alice
Calton, all of Eldon; three brothers, Lonnie Calton of Eldon, Jim Calton of Russellville
and Aubrey Calton of Versailles; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Rod
Campbell officiating.  Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to

When Albert got married the creeks were up and he had to carry Gertrude across the creek.  His brothers were on the

CHARLES A. CALTON, 95, BARNETT
Charles A. Calton died Friday, July 7, 1995 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Versailles.
He was born Feb. 20, 1900 in Linn Creek, son of Richard and Talitha Hibdon Calton.  On Dec. 23, 1925, in Purvis, he
married Ada E. McCasland, who survives of the home.
Mr. Calton was a farmer and stockman.  He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include four sons, John Calton, Versailles; Frank Calton, Tuscumbia; William Calton, Barnett; Lonnie Calton,
Terre Haute, Ind; four daughters, Nellie Hensley, Kansas City; Ruby Gardner, Pasadena, Calif; Lelia Thompson, Terre
Haute, Ind; Wanda Grace Gibbs, Springfield; and 27 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles, with the Rev. Rod Campbell
officiating.
Burial will be in the Versailles Cemetery.

  In 1927 the Conner families from far and near brought well filled
baskets and met at the Holst spring five miles south of Gravois Mills,
in honor of the only member left of the older generation, Mrs Adeline
Walters.  Each year since they have met and enjoyed a family
reunion.
  Since 1927, Aunt Adeline, as she was known by old and young,
and others of the Conner Family have passed on but the remaining
ones met at Aurora Springs Sunday, August 9, and enjoyed the presence of their
kindred and the thrill of meeting with ones they hadn't seen for
years and some they had never met.
  A bounteous dinner was served and a pleasant day was spent.

Harold Gregg Hibdon was hit by a car driven by Dr. H. B. Wray of Nevada, and a
passenger, Dr. C Braxton Davis-also of Nevada.  There was a forest fire and smoke
was so bad they couldn't see.
Harold died from injuries received while fighting fire.  He was working for the Missouri
Conservation Department.

Missouri.  It is believed that Frank was a police officer at Stover.

Dixie and Ralph were divorced in 1937 and she gave up Richard for adoption.  Ralph told family members that Richard
was not his child.

" He was born Ronald Wayne Lee, son of RalphLee and Dixie Sue Richards in 1937.  Ralph and Dixie divorced in 1937
in Morgan County.  She was 16 and he was 28 years of age.  Dixie gave up Ronald Wayne for adoption in 1942. The
adopting parents were named Martin Leroy and Angeline Beaty of Croker MO,.We have the ammended birth
certificate and the original also."

Virginia "Ginger" Hibdon, 48, Florence, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 12, 1999, at
Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. She was born Sept. 11, 1950, in
Independence, the daughter of Virgil J. and Glenna Ledgerwood Conner.

On Aug. 23, 1977, she married Clint Hibdon, who survives of the home.

Mrs. Hibdon was employed at Interstate Studios in Sedalia and was supervisor with
Interstate Image Service. She served on the Publication and First Aid Committees, and
received her 10-year pin at Christmas. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, and won first
place in the McDonnell Douglas State Archery Competition.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Gary Fahrni, Salina, Kan.; one
daughter, Cynthia Sullivan, Independence; her mother, Glenna Conner, Gravois Mills;
one sister, Linda Hollaway, Gravois Mills; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 16 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in
Versailles, with David Scott officiating. Interment was in the Florence Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Jeff Nolting, Harry Beckman, Shannon Beckman, Tom McNeil,
Ernie Mertgen and Ronnie Conner. Arrangements were under the direction of the
Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Hibdon was born in Gravois Mills
and lived in this area from 1954 until he returned to Gravois Mills in 1977. He managed a McCall's service station in
Kansas City before he retired. He was a member of the Gravois Mills United Methodist Church. Survivors include his
wife of 51 years, Evaleen Cantwell Hibdon of the home; two sons, Rodger Hibdon, Jefferson City, and Stephen Hibdon,
Stover, Mo.; three daughters, Nancy Jewell, Kansas City, Patricia Allred, Cypress, Calif.; and Mary Callen, Lexington,

John Clinton Hibdon was killed in an automobile accident on the Haw Creek Bridge.,
on MO Hiway 52, between Stover and Cole camp.
Also killed in this wreck were the driver of the car, Jewell Tombs (son of Charles E.
Tombs and Maude May Cole) and Rosetta Adams (daughter of Orville Adams and
Berniece Carver).  Mary Ellen Breen (daughter of John Clarence Breen and Della Jane
Walls) was injured in this accident.  John Clinton Hibdon was going with Mary Ellen at
this time.  She later married his brother, Gail Frederick Hibdon.
 He was buried October 5, 1948.

Leo Charles Hibdon born in Topeka Kansas August 14, 1917. He was the son of Mr & Mrs. John C. Hibdon.  He died
May 3, 1952.  Funeral services handled by Kidwell, Versailles, MO. Rev. Wilbanks officiating. Burial in the Versailles
cemetery.

discharge in 1946.  4th Marine Div.  He married Mabel Chipley.  they had 2 children, a daughter: Elizabeth and a son:
L.D.  Later he married Geraldine Grace Webb and they had 2 sons: Galy Lee & Donnie Dale
