Thomas M. Hibdon was born July 5, 1837 and departed this life May 25,
1920, being at the time of his death almost eighty three years old.  He was
born in the state of Illinois, but at the age of four years he moved with his
parents to Missouri.
He was married to Martha P. Phillips, October 5, 1862, who preceded
him to the better land June 29, 1890.  To this union were born 7 children,
George W. Hibdon and Mrs. James Kennedy, of Gravois Mills, Mo., J. E.
Hibdon of Harrison, Arkansas, Mrs. Jerusha McGorder, Eldon and Mrs. John
Lee of Linn Creek, who survive him and were at his bedside at the last.
Elijah A. died in childhood and William H. preceded him to the better land
December 26, 1912.
May 3, 1901 he was married to Pricilla Wilson, who also survives him.
He was a kind father and considerate husband and was loved and respected
by all who knew him.  Besides his wife and children he leaves 34 grand
children, 20 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to
mourn their loss.
He was one of the few Civil War veterans and a pioneer citizen of Morgan
County, having resided for more than fifty years on the place where he
passed away.  It is this that the brave pioneers are going to their reward and
leaving us only a rememberance and the work they have done for civilization
as a last monument.
He bore his suffering patiently, had professed faith in Christ and felt
that he was prepared to meet his loved ones "over there"  He told his children
that he was not tired of living but if God saw fit to take him on he was
prepared
to go.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of Rev. I Barber, who was
a life long friend of the deceased, and the remains were laid to rest in the
Rickinson Cemetery, May 26, 1920 in the presenced of a host of sorrowing
relatives and friends.
