CHLOE AND SHANNON'S STORY
January 2001
Welcome to the New Year update on how the girls are and what they did for Christmas.
Once again the girls did not have a great Christmas health wise, for the second year running they came down with a bad cold on Christmas Day until just after the new year, ironically this is the second year in a row they have been to a Christmas Party in the week before Christmas at Selby College, our view is that kids in the creche at Selby are imune to all the illnesses around because they are all together all the time, Chloe and Shannon are not because they only visit the Creche once a year, we may be wrong on this but it does sound funny why they get ill after these parties.
Anyways, Shannon was okay until around 1pm on Christmas Day and she took to opening presents well, after 1pm she started to scream and kept on doing so until we put her to bed at around 6pm, the next day she had a runny nose and bad cough, Chloe had a cough on Christmas Day and she was not that bothered about opening presents.
Both girls got rid of the cold around 10 January, but now Shannon has picked up another virus which is making her sick when she eats things, she has also been off her drink too, which is more serious, on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21st January we had to take her to the on-call doctor at Selby War Memorial Hospital and Goole Hospital, at Selby the doctor did a full check but could find nothing wrong (their is something wrong that is obvious), we were not happy with his rushed analysis so we took her to see Dr Hewish at Goole Hospital the following day and this time we found out that she is slightly de-hydrated and we were told to perserve with trying to get fluids into her to try to get her to re-hydrate, and he was happy to see Shannon everyday if things do not pick up - the last resort he told us was that she could be admitted to hospital to allow the doctors to help make her better again.
Today is 22nd January and so far Shannon has eat some of her breakfast and has had slow drinks from her Summer Fruit drink, all day yesterday she only drunk one cup full of juice, also she is running around more then the previous few days so just maybe she is getting better, but we shall have to let her go at her pace and hopefully she will start to eat more and more importantly drinking.
In the development side of things Chloe can say if prompted short sentances like 'can i have a biscuit please' she has to repeat each word and cannot say it all in one go - but it is a good start, Shannon as well has an ever increasing vocabulary and can tell us when she is feeling unwell or that she wants some juice (and that it is her juice lol). Funny things that they have said recently are when they are in bed settling to sleep, Chloe sometimes says 'nat night, sissie' which is sooo cute.
In less then a month we are taking the girls on vacation to the Costa Del Sol for the second year running, this time they should enjoy the flight more then last year, one reason is the childrens pack they will get on the flight, just hope they don't use the crayons to colour the plane in lol.
Thanks once again for all the visitors to the site, and for making this site one of the biggest personal sites to come out of the Town and Port of Goole in fact this site out numbers the offical Goole AFC website by two visits to one, which is amazing saying that that is a soccer site and their are sooo many webrings it could be in - anyway take a look at it at http://website.lineone.net/~darone
That's all for now, check back regularly for updates on Shannon's condition and of course to see what Chloe is upto.
